How To Date A Rockstar (Without Getting Murdered)
About the book
A seductively sinister romantic suspense from Audie-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott!
Over three decades ago, grunge rockstar Christopher Durand was shot down in the street by an obsessed fan, leaving behind an estranged wife and a child no one knew about—until a new biography reveals her identity. And all hell breaks loose.
Ruby Donnelly has lived a quiet, ordinary life with her adoptive parents. Suddenly finding out you're the progeny of a legendary rockstar who still has fans wearing his face on their shirts is a lot. And then there's the remaining members of her father's band. The reclusive and hot as sin guitarist, Andrew Brooks, in particular.
Tucked away behind the iron gates of his gothic fortress, Brooks hasn't faced the outside world in decades. Not since the night he watched his best friend die and nearly bled out beside him. He's grumpy, guarded, and far too certain he can keep Ruby safe from the media circus about to swallow her whole. The trouble is, the longer Ruby stays in his sprawling, secret-filled mansion, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them…and the more the official story of her father’s death starts to unravel.
Who killed Christopher Durand all those years ago? And will Ruby and Brooks be next?
And I thought
I was intrigued when I saw the Audible version available with my membership.
I didn't really read the synopsis.
I am a cover junky.
It really wasn't the cover that drew me so much this time it was the title.
I rarely read a synopsis. And I didn't until I was ready to write this review.
Before I get into that.
I really enjoyed this book!
I loved the characters . . .
Ruby and the brooding Brooks are just what a good romance is about right?
Pen the Housekeeper/personal assistant is a hoot. She us dedicated not only to Brooks but the band. She is savy and snippy when she needs to be. And will yield a rolling pin if necessary.
The book was fast paced.
The plot was intriguing
In the space of a week Ruby and Brooks fall in love. Even though both know the danger in a relationship.
In the space of a week a decades old murder is solved. Another murder committed. A kidnapping occurs.
And said kidnapping is thwarted ending in a Happy Ending.
But.
Brooks and Ruby never went on a date.
I would not really describe the book as seductive actually.
The decades old murder and what is going on in the present is not even a cat mouse game.
The relationship between Ruby and Brooks grows fast. They were both ready for each other.
There is 1 bedroom scene and it is brief. Which in my opinion just wasn't necessary.
But that is just me.
I did really really enjoyed this book.
And not based on an exaggerated in my opinion synopsis I easily give my 5 star rating.
I plan to look for more titles by the author.
I was not asked to write this review.
I will also post on Good Reads.
