Turning the last few pages . . . What it's about  There was only one way to find out, Drin concluded. Standing up and putting her bag over her shoulder, she walked up to the plaque. "Don't think about it. Just do it." A shiver ran up her spine as she raised her right hand. She tried to picture in her mind the movements he had made. Slowly, she placed her fingers on the circles of the arc. Light shot out from the stone and wrapped around her. She attempted to pull her hand away, but it was too late. She was being pulled into it! Overly curious, Drin suddenly finds herself being transported to a mysterious world where she will face hideous beasts and befriend kind woodland creatures as she seeks help to find her way back home. Soon, a dark presence will attempt to stop her from helping the people of this land awaken to their lost faith in God as they prepare to battle the evil that threatens their world. Soar Like An Eagle by

About the book  The coroner is claiming natural causes. The mayor is crying murder. Can this feisty retiree spot the truth before the clues drown in the chaos? Andy Shirley won’t admit he likes it here. But in the year since his wife’s passing, the copy-editor-turned-reluctant-hotelier has begun to appreciate small-town life amongst the towering redwoods. And his quick eye for detail has him suspecting foul play when the local busybody is found belly-up in the community pool. With his sleuthing skills unaffected by a recent hiking injury, Andy ignores the police chief’s cautions and dives into an off-the-books investigation. But though his snarky sidekick and pocket-sized poodle help chase down leads, all his Poirot-inspired maneuvers aren’t getting him any closer to closing the case. Can he pull off an impossible solve, or will the lack of evidence drive Andy off the deep end? Sore Like an Eagle is the splashy third book in the Redwoods Country cozy mystery series. If you like rel...

Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone My Review

Image
About the book  Stay up all night with this funny, surprising romantic comedy from Audie Award nominee Cara Bastone - scripted exclusively for audio! It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back. And then somehow we keep talking…ALL NIGHT. We’re both insomniacs, so talking all night soon turns into talking EVERY night. And talking about nothing soon turns into talking about something. And here we go from in-depth analysis of reality TV to my relationship with my family, to his amazing artwork. There’s no topic we don’t cover.... Except for who I really am. It’s the only question of ...

Long Time Gone by Mary Connealy

Image
This is a reprint of a previously posted review.... Another great ride! A bit of a surprise to me book two took up almost immediately where book one left off. I had the opportunity to read book 1 so I was excited to be offered Long Time Gone I was surprised to see that book 2 took up only minutes after book 1 ended. I enjoyed all the characters from book 1 and book 2. The romance that developed between Justice and Angie who he met in book 1 was fun to witness. They each had their on struggles and challenges to overcome while they became closer acquainted with each other. All the characters that Mary has created in this series are likeable, strong, independent and God fearing men and women. I would like to read The Boden Birthright. Although I don't feel the reader needs to read all the books in order because Mary does a great job of keeping the story moving and helping the reader stay connected with each story. If you have the chance to read this series in order I would suggest y...
