About the book
The coroner is claiming natural causes. The mayor is crying murder. Can this feisty retiree spot the truth before the clues drown in the chaos?
Andy Shirley won’t admit he likes it here. But in the year since his wife’s passing, the copy-editor-turned-reluctant-hotelier has begun to appreciate small-town life amongst the towering redwoods. And his quick eye for detail has him suspecting foul play when the local busybody is found belly-up in the community pool.
With his sleuthing skills unaffected by a recent hiking injury, Andy ignores the police chief’s cautions and dives into an off-the-books investigation. But though his snarky sidekick and pocket-sized poodle help chase down leads, all his Poirot-inspired maneuvers aren’t getting him any closer to closing the case.
Can he pull off an impossible solve, or will the lack of evidence drive Andy off the deep end?
Sore Like an Eagle is the splashy third book in the Redwoods Country cozy mystery series. If you like reluctant heroes, unexpected team-ups, and puzzles that keep you guessing, then you'll love this hilarious yarn.

And I thought
A few years ago I featured Author Marc Jedel's debut title Uncles and Ants.
I learned then the author is very creative when conjuring up titles.
I also much to my surprise back then realized he pens a hilarious Cozy Mystery.
Soar Like An Eagle is just as funny and creative.
The characters are charming and funny.
The main character Andy is struggling a bit trying to get past grieving his wife’s.
He intends to be a recluse.
But the odds are against him.
How can you be a recluse when you own an inn.
And then there are the towns folk that just love Andy.
A few women that seem to have their sights on the widower including the police detective Jo Ann.
In Soar Like An Eagle Jo Ann ends up paying a back seat to her daughter Charlie who is determined to solve the murder before her mom.
With the reluctant Andy they start hanging around together and ferret out the clues.
Charlie is young and funny.
About the same age as Andy's son Scott.
Which does not sit well with Andy.
Charlie's quirky character is charming.
Charlie . .."I wasn't expecting we'd Hit the Mother Load with a bunch of Wacky A Doodle Stories!
Andy is funny too. He tends to talk to himself.
'No everything seemed to fit . . .' Before I could supply the whole Colonel Mustard in the Study with the lead pipe answer' . . .
'What does all that mean?' Andy said.
'I don't know' Charlie said. 'I fell asleep half way through reading it.'
. . .
Charlie had followed Joanne's instructions. She put the picture hangers and nails back into the wall in the outline of a Smiley Face.
Charlie held up a finger. "Give him a moment. He'll get there. Takes the scenic route."
Soar Like An Eagle is filled with mystery with a murder to solve. What is going on with an odd failed bank robbery. And a wife wanting proof her husband is cheating.
Andy saves the day by solving the murder with Charlie's help. And literally stopping the bank robbery. I'd love to tell you how but well as they say . . .
And figures put what the husbands been up to.
And in the end Andy enjoys a peaceful/romantic evening debriefing with Jo Ann.
Jo Ann cocked an eye brow and said "You know before you arrived here there were no bank robberies or muder cases."
"And the police here only handled drunk and disorderly case before I arrived" Andy Said.
. . .
