Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone My Review

 About the book

Stay up all night with this funny, surprising romantic comedy from Audie Award nominee Cara Bastone - scripted exclusively for audio!

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on.

I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine.

It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

And then somehow we keep talking…ALL NIGHT. We’re both insomniacs, so talking all night soon turns into talking EVERY night. And talking about nothing soon turns into talking about something. And here we go from in-depth analysis of reality TV to my relationship with my family, to his amazing artwork. There’s no topic we don’t cover....

Except for who I really am.

It’s the only question of his I won’t answer.

As my crush turns into an avalanche of Eliot, I think of him all the time now. But if he knew who I was, the entire house of cards we’ve built this relationship on would come toppling down.

I want him to be mine, but we might never be more than just a sweet dream....

The series

And I thought
So there was this other book I labeled best of the year . . .
And it really was.
And then . . .
There was Sweet Talk and. It all changed.
I felt so fickle LOL.

And then I was almost to the end and it dawned on me.  Hello book two in the series!

Cara Barstone did an amazing job of weaving the two stories together!

As in book 1 the male and female lead characters are sweet fun.

In book 2.

J.D. the female lead is fiesty and gritty.  Not the sort you would expect a corporate kind of guy to be drawn to.

Elliott wears 3 piece suits with a pocket square no less.

While J.D. is well,look at the cover . . .
Messy bun, holes in jeans and a piercing.   And she rides a motorcycle and boxes.

Elliott is the corporate guy that wears khakis when he isn't working.

The two accidentally meet when Elliott calls J.D. in the wee hours of the morning.

They end up talking every night.

All the while Eliott doesn't know who J.D. is.

But she knows who Elliott is.

And has a crush on him.

This little romance happens quickly.

No drama. No ex causing trouble.

Just well if  I tell  you  then . . .

I loved that Elliott turns out to be Vera's brother from book 1.

No spoilers here.

Grab book 1.
Then
Grab book 2.

But don't  worry  you can read them out of order.

And the cover is great too.

Each title is written as a stand one.

I enjoyed the Audible version which was free because I am a member.

No one asked me to write this review.

This 5 star review will appear on Amazon, Goodreads and all my S.M. platforms.
